Wave Impact Reduction

We call it Wave Impact Reduction, some people call it Shock Mitigation and others call it Human Impact Exposure. Whatever phrase is used, in the context of a marine suspension seat, it is the reduction of the impact shocks that a body can be exposed to by a boat travelling at moderate to high speed in moderate to high seas.

It’s no good for a shock mitigating jockey seat to be more like an armchair, causing you to relax into it and to rely on it to do all the work. It may not and it’s not safe for you to expect it to. It’s no good if you can’t get to your feet in a moment and it’s no good if the standing position is all wrong when you do. You need to be able to stand over the narrow part at the front of the seat comfortably so that it can help support you laterally but without it feeling like you are riding a horse because you have to stand with your legs so wide apart.

The Wavemaster seat addresses all these vital points because we think that ‘fit for purpose’ should always be put way ahead of the fear of being unfashionable.

Our Marine suspension seats are there to help you and make life more comfortable and less tiring They work alongside your natural muscular responses - in other words, your legs. This is the benefit of adaptive suspensions seats like ours. When seated, you are in a position ready to react - using your legs to support and balance yourself. You cannot react in this way on most normal seats and ‘feet off deck’ suspension seats. This semi upright position also helps keep your spine in a better posture, thus further reducing the risk of back injury.
